Prof. Tanaka served as Asia-Pacific Principal Investigator for the CLARITY-AD Phase III trial of lecanemab. His team enrolled 342 participants across 18 sites in Japan and Korea, and biomarker data from his laboratory directly informed the patient selection criteria incorporated into approved prescribing guidance in Japan and the EU.
Prof. Tanaka's research supports blood-based p-tau217 as the primary screening and monitoring biomarker for anti-amyloid therapy. He also advocates for tau PET imaging at key decision points — particularly before treatment initiation and at 12 months — based on data from the CLARITY-J real-world registry.
Yes. Prof. Tanaka is Principal Investigator for two Phase III trials: one examining anti-tau monotherapy in early Alzheimer's, and one evaluating a dual anti-amyloid/anti-tau combination regimen. Both are currently enrolling across Japan, South Korea, and Singapore.
